Über das Reiseziel

Die Hauptstadt der Provinz ist klein, aber alles andere als verschlafen. Ihr Souq erfüllt sich mit einem Sprachgewirr aus verschiedenen Sprachen, darunter Kumzari (eine Mischsprache aus Arabisch, Farsi, Englisch, Hindi und Portugiesisch), und ihr Hafen ist voller Aktivität, von der ein Großteil den halb-illegalen Handel mit dem Iran betrifft. Die Schmuggler sind an ihren aufgemotzten Glasfaserbooten mit Außenbordmotoren zu erkennen, die entlang der Bäche aufgereiht sind und auf die Dämmerung warten, um die verrückte 55km lange Fahrt über die Meerenge zum Iran zu wagen. Sie bringen Geld und Charakter in die Stadt, also scheint niemand in Eile zu sein, sie loszuwerden; außerdem ist Piraterie seit weit über 200 Jahren eine Tradition in diesen Teilen und die Einheimischen respektieren eine gute Tradition.
